Update on the Leve Center’s 2020-2021 Scholarships

Recognizing that the COVID-19 pandemic will likely continue to disrupt students’ plans for travel, research, and study until well into 2021, the Leve Center has made significant adjustments to our scholarship applications process for the 2020-2021 AY. As part of our commitment to supporting undergraduate and graduate students in any way that we can, we have adjusted both the requirements for the applications and the types of proposals we will accept. Our hope is that by tailoring our Fall-Winter scholarships (Deadline Nov. 20, 2020) to the specific needs of students in our current, remote-learning environment, we will be able to offer more financial support for our Spring-Summer cycle in 2021. Information for the Spring-Summer cycle will be available here in early February 2021.

For undergraduates we will be accepting proposals for the Maurice Amado Research and Travel Grants and the Alan D. Leve Undergraduate Research and Travel Grant for Student Excellence from UCLA undergraduate registered students interested in extending papers and projects they’ve worked on in a Fall class in new directions.  This includes (but it not limited to): transforming a written paper into a digital project, blog, or art project; expanding a short paper into a longer, research paper; and developing a proposal for a senior honors thesis. Applicants will be required to work with a Faculty Mentor (must be pre-approved by Leve Center Director).
