We celebrated the life and work of costume designers such as Adrian (Greenberg), Edith Head (née Posener), Helen Rose (née Bromberg), Ruth Morley (née Birnholz), and contemporary costume designers such as Rita Ryack, Betsy Heimann, Arianne Phillips, Albert Wolsky, Julie Weiss, Deena Appel, Judianna Makovsky, Michael Kaplan, Ellen Mirojnick, Danny Glicker, Jane Ruhm, Beth Pasternak, Deborah Nadoolman Landis and many others. Together, we considered the “Jewish thread” in the history and fabric of costume design, and how Jewish culture contributed to the unforgettable costumes of cultural landmarks such as The Wizard of Oz, Fight Club, Tootsie, All That Jazz, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Hairspray, Frida, Austin Powers, Milk, Pulp Fiction, Harry Potter, Basic Instinct, Kingsman, Indiana Jones, and Sunset Boulevard.
