306 Royce Hall View mapIn this talk summing up a long career, David Biale reflects on the origins of his commitment to Jewish Studies in the tumultuous years of the late-1960s and early-1970s. The renaissance of Jewish life in that period was often in conscious interaction with the Weimar Jewish renaissance of the 1920s, a renaissance that drew Biale’s attention to the pathbreaking work of Gershom Scholem about whom he wrote his first and most recent book.
